Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy:

Aromatherapy is a more relaxing treatment using a blend of essential oils tailored to you needs and preferences. It is an ancient alternative therapy which combines the application of essential oils through therapeutic massage.

These methods enable us to utilise the fragrance, or aroma of the plant, as well as its medicinal or therapeutic qualities which can be applied to a whole host of physical and mental symptoms or ailments.

There are general therapeutic qualities associated with different oils, for example;

lavender is well known for its relaxing properties whereas lemon would be invigorating and refreshing. Ginger would be warming and soothing to muscles, whereas, eucalyptus would be more invigorating and beneficial for clearing airwaves.

Aromatherapy can have various physiological effects such as;

increasing vitality, stimulating the immune system, improving sleep, balance hormones, reduce PMT and menstrual pains, improve digestion, soothe muscular aches and pains, improve skin conditions, clear sinuses, headaches and toothaches

Aromatherapy oils can also detoxify the body and help stimulate the removal of waste, stimulating the bowels and internal organs, blood circulation and lymphatic system.

Aromatherapy can also help to repair muscles and get rid of knots which cause aches and pains.

As well as stimulating the immune system, many aromatherapy oils also have antibacterial effects. They are nourishing and rejuvenating for the skin and hair.

After treatment, clients usually describe a feeling of peace and calm, which in itself is often very helpful in treating any stress-related illnesses.
Physiologically, Aromatherapy oils can alleviate certain feelings or mental conditions by relaxing parts of the brain.

They can aid in focus, concentration, clarity of thought, memory, help with conditions of the mind such as anxiety, depression, claustrophobia, OCD, and hyperactivity,

as well as night terrors, mental exhaustion, impulsiveness, scattered thoughts, lack of confidence/ shyness and tantrums and sulking in kids.

Although Aromatherapy can be uplifting, it can temporarily make one feel down for a period of time. The client may feel worse before they feel better.

The body can experience a detox reaction, and may cause a temporary emotional imbalance of feeling up and down until the emotions settle.

It can also put you in a deep state of relaxation, and will eventually leave you feeling refreshed with a deep sense of well-being and calm.
